"ABSOLUTELY ECCENTRIC"

I don’t really consider myself to be eccentric. So when I see a poster like this - which in my book looks anything but extravagant, I want to know a little more. So this morning I wandered off to see what it was all about.

Usually at the Hotel de Ville the crowds are queuing for exhibitions. Today there was no-one. As it has just started, word of mouth may not have hit the Parisian scene. But it will! Believe you me.

Most of these works are being shown for the first time and bring together  some 160 artists who work in 25 art studios. The big difference is that these artists are either mentally of physically handicapped. I was stopped at once as soon as I took out my Iphone to photograph something. Fortunately, there is a lot on Internet and this time around, I did buy the catalogue, which in itself is a marvelous work of art.

Some woman rushed in - looked at the first room - turned to me and asked if  this was work done in primary schools. My reply was somewhat caustic

Aida is a young man who is trisomique. His passion is theatre, music and painting, shows and musical comedy. I’d get on with him. His beautiful bird is a loner and flew onto an island where he wanted to rest. An insect perched on his head to sting him but the bird
brushed it off and then flew away toward other adventures, and forgot about the sting.

Here is another bird by Mathieu Boissy done in 1971.

And how about these birds by Gregory Clavel (196

Sophie Colbert needs to be alone and completely fill the paper with colour. It doesn’t matter what pencils she uses but the paper must be filled.

How about this beautiful rooster in plaster, wire and mattress springs. A collective work.

This cosmic violet skull took my breathe way. Vincent Curly.

Ariane Khaifa-Dallo never forgot how much her Mother complained about everything....when she was expecting her second child. «They spend so much money that they make me sick» Because of these words, Ariane started to draw women who were throwing up all sorts of things....

This is called «Bad time» and done in 2012 by Jean Claude Mara.

«The Giraffe’s kiss» done in 2011 by Laurent Vilar who dreams about his Brasilien childhood....and the many horrors that went with it as well...

Some others ....

There was so much to see.....

These artists have the strength to master their artistic «tools». They rely completely on their instincts and their emotions. They take risks and yet their work is generous without being influenced by an outside world. Such work makes me feel small in front of such much passion and creativity. These people are encouraged and this motivates them to develop and share their creative work with our world. I came out feeling warm inside. It was a wonderful moment.
