SHARING WITH ME

Remember when Marielle and I visited the Alfred Manessier exhibition and my theory about titles? I don’t really approve of a title when it doesn’t seem to relate in any  to an artist’s work. I may need to retract my words as coming into two very big exhibitions at the Tripostal, I really didn’t know what I was looking at. When I did find text and an explanation, most of the time it didn’t seem to relate to what I was looking at either…. 

The first exhibition was called :- « Tu dois changer ta vie » (You must change your life-style).  Such a title is supposed to make you wake up and act in front of the different installations or art work we were seeing. They explore the progress of science, new technologies and as you go along a chosen route you are supposed to become part of the work or the actor inside the work….I followed my designated route looking around but even so, with the exception of some videos or installations, it was very unclear to me.

The list was made and it’s very long. All the exhibitions that I want to see in the coming year. As is always the case in France we are kept waiting until mid end of September of each year before  there are openings and then naturally, everything comes at once. I had been booked to go to Lille for quite a while but at the last moment due to a rather tiresome unforeseen event I needed to postpone the trip until later. As it so happens it was a good idea as Lille 3000 started on the 26th of September and my trip was now planned for the end of the month. 

The theme this year is « Renaissance » with more than 35 large exhibitions being held in Lille and surroundings. Cities - art of the « Renaissance » Seoul, Indhoven Phnom Penh, Detroit and I could go on.
