INTENSE PROXIMITY
They call it «Intense Proximité/y» My first thought after an hour and more of visit with Laurent - too close - . I came home and looked at the few photos I had taken and thought, «this is not me" Perhaps am I looking at it the wrong way? Too fast? Scuttling from room to room and feeling decidedly drunk by the invasion of installations, videos and other on my brain. I went back to magazines which I have including articles on the subject, critics and then sat down for a second thought. At the end of our visit I said to Lo, «perhaps we should look at one gallery at a time?» Choose those that are of interest and leave the rest. This is the new Palais de Tokyo. Renovation was undertaken a year ago. The ground surface has been tripled and now houses 22 000m2 of contemporary art on three floors.
