AM OFF AGAIN BUT THE TRIP NEEDS PREPARATION
As I am going on a cruise in a couple of weeks up the Norwegian Fjords, it will not surprise you that today I went to see the Louis Vuitton (1821-1892) and Marc Jacobs (present American designer for the brand) at the Arts Decoratifs.
After all, I had to see what was available in the trunk selection and perhaps consider a few bits and pieces of clothing to wear on the Ocean Liner.
Louis Vuitton, as we all know is a «trade name» today and was considered to be in his day a specialist «packer» for fashion. Quite obviously he was targeting the Parisian «Haute-Couture» and was a close friend of Charles-Fréderick Worth - the creator of Haute Couture However, it was his son, George who designed the famous monogram «LV» in 1896 - after his father had died.
He presented his latest creations at the Universal exhibitions - and informed the public they were for sale . Quite obviously, very commercial in his approach and very successful as well we know.
This is the period of the crinoline dresses. I hope you approve of what I have chosen for the opening dinner.
But of course I have a small child in tow so we had to bring along all the doll’s clothes as well.
Not to mention my full wardrobe for the cruise.
It’s doubtful of course that it will all fit into one trunk, so I had better be on the safe side and order a selection.
Thank goodness there is a trunk which opens up into a bed. Perhaps I am going to need it.
Oh dear, I am not a member of the «people clan» and I doubt if Marc Jacobs, the present day designer would approve of any of the clothes I wear. He’s been the designer for LV since 1997, not to mention flitting backwards and forwards from New York where he continues to work on his own trademark. Of course once I knew that Murakami had worked for him, I did rush out and order a little bag. However, I am not too sure that you will approve of my outfit for the closing evening.....`
Don’t worry, I don’t have the legs or the figure to wear it.
Forgot to tell you about the fancy dress ball...what do you think I shoud wear?
And how thoughtful I am. There is a crew of nurses to pick you up, just in case you were feeling a little under the weather after all this activity.
