SHARING WITH ME

The plan of the Exhibition   So the weeks go by…sometimes I wonder where they went and oh so fast. I am gently reminded by the brochures on my desk that there are three exhibitions to write up. Well here we go, but not in the order that I saw them! Shirley Hicks « Lifelines » was once again, someone new. And fascinating at that. It was on at the Beaubourg and when I arrived, no-one in sight. Since the late 1950s, Sheila Hicks (1932 - ) has been producing work which, in my book, is impossible to categorise. Knotting, wrapping, folding, twisting and stacking wool, linen and cotton: these are only some of the techniques and materials that have seen her undermine conventional artistic categories and their hierarchical relationships.
