SEEING SOMETHING DIFFERENT

We all have those days when we have to push ourselves to go out. I’d been reading all the morning - and very happy to be engrossed in my book. The sun was shining so l gave myself a kick and said « out ». There was an exhibition of Franz Ackerman’s work that l wanted to see in a gallery. It was starting that day, so off l went at my usual zippy pace. Crossed Anne on the way and she was returning from the Paul Klee exhibition at Beaubourg. There had not been too many people. Something of course l would definitely be seeing. I got to the Gallery Templon only to find that they were installing the exhibition and it wasn’t opening for a few days. Oh well, l’d go to the Klee. By the time l got back to the Beaubourg, the crowds were looking like this….and l knew it would be for Klee. Looking up, I saw this poster. SNAKES AND CONTAINERS

Last year I am sure that I dazzled you with facts concerning the annual MONUMENTAL installation at the Grand Palais. Here you can take a look again and just imagine that every year a new artist is selected to create a work of art for this particular space. The challenge must be quite something I would think. This year it was « EMPIRES » created by Huang Yong Ping. From the videos that I have looked at, he seems to have a very developed sense of humour. Many of the Chinese I have met, can as I have learnt at my own expense, be very funny. Have a look at the trailer. I found it quite amazing. EMPIRES TRAILER He was born in China in 1954 so still quite a young man in my book. He left his country in 1989 to come to France. Before that he belonged to a very radical movement called Xiamen Dada which claimed that :- « The zen is Dada, Dada is zen »  He’s a central artist of his times and although l have now looked at a lot of his work on Internet  the zen
